MultiMerch 8.7 Stable Released

I know you've been waiting for this and I'm happy to announce that MultiMerch 8.7 Stable is out!

In addition to the larger features announced earlier, we've included a number of smaller long awaited features and improvements.

Here's what's new in MultiMerch 8.7:

Vendor categories

In short – vendors can now create their very own category structure to arrange products within their own stores.

This serves two main purposes – it gives vendors better control over their product catalog and makes it easier for customers to browse individual vendors' stores.

In the near future, we're also planning to extend the SEO and category filter system to vendor categories in addition to regular marketplace categories.

Private messaging updates

MultiMerch private messaging system has received a few major updates:

  • Customers and vendors can now communicate about specific orders directly from the "order details" page
  • Marketplace administrators now have full overview of conversations in the admin area and can take part in customer-vendor conversations themselves
  • Participants can now attach files and images to their messages

We're also expecting new, more modern designs for messaging in one of the upcoming 8.7.x updates!

Performance improvements

Marketplace owners will notice major page load speed improvements in product and vendor lists both in front end and back end – especially on marketplaces with larger numbers of products.

Some of the marketplaces participating in our beta tests have noticed the load times of the admin vendor list pages from 30 seconds to just 0.3 seconds.

Other things

MultiMerch 8.7 also introduces a number of other improvements and bugfixes. The full list of MultiMerch 8.7 changes can be found on our Changelog page.

P.S. We will now begin updating our theme compatibility packages and translations to MultiMerch 8.7. If you're running MultiMerch 8.6 with a custom theme or a custom translation, you may want to wait a little until the relevant files are updated to 8.7.
