MultiMerch with Coffee Theme (OPC080182) & OpenCart
Coffee (OPC080182) is one of the decent themes by TemplateMela, who are known to offer dozens of different themes for OpenCart and other systems. It's a neatly looking theme focused on coffee and will suit perfectly for coffee-themed OpenCart and MultiMerch shops.
We now offer a MultiMerch compatibility package for the Coffee theme that makes it a breeze to get OpenCart and Coffee to work with MultiMerch with no additional modifications. This tutorial covers the whole process of setting up OpenCart, installing the Coffee theme and integrating it with MultiMerch Marketplace.
This tutorial was created for OpenCart 188.8.131.52 and MultiMerch 8.2. Compatibility packages are included in MultiMerch Professional and Business plans.
OpenCart installation is generally an easy process which is in detail covered by the official OpenCart documentation and in various third party tutorials. Here we only outline the main steps you need to do to have your own OpenCart 184.108.40.206 store up and running within minutes.
1. Download the OpenCart setup archive
If you're in process of creating your store from scratch, you'll want to use the latest stable version of OpenCart in most cases that is available on the official OpenCart website. You can always find it on the official OpenCart download page. In our case, it is OpenCart 220.127.116.11.
2. Unpack and upload OpenCart files to your server
OpenCart download is a single archive with a number of various files and folders. The only files you need are located inside the upload/ folder which is included in the archive. Make sure to upload the contents of the folder, not the folder itself.
To do this, you can use any popular FTP client or your CPanel file manager. In this case, we're using WinSCP (make sure you're transferring files in Binary mode).
3. Visit the OpenCart installation page in your browser
After you've uploaded the files to your server you need to run the OpenCart installer by visiting the URL of your site in your web browser. OpenCart will then direct you to the installation page.
In some cases you may need to rename and change a few of the OpenCart configuration files and folder permissions – this will depend on your OpenCart version. If something is wrong, OpenCart will warn you about this and tell you what you need to fix exactly.
At this point you will also need to have your database connection information at hand.
4. Install vQmod modification system for OpenCart
MultiMerch needs the free vQmod modification system for OpenCart installed on your server. It is required for MultiMerch to work correctly. For more information on modifications in OpenCart, see our blog post that covers OpenCart modification systems in detail.
vQmod installation is straightforward and easy 3 step process:
- Download the latest version of vQmod for OpenCart from the official vQmod repository on GitHub
- Unpack and upload vQmod files to your OpenCart folder
- Execute the vQmod installation script by visiting the http://(youstore.com)/vqmod/install/ URL. You will be presented with a success message when vQmod is installed correctly.
5. Configure your OpenCart store and complete the installation
Finish your setup by configuring your new OpenCart website via the Administration area. Once this is done, you will have the very latest version of a clean OpenCart store on your server with a few demo products. You can delete them later.
Your brand new OpenCart store setup is now completely configured and ready for action!
Installing the Coffee theme for OpenCart
Now when you have your OpenCart shop configured and running properly, you can proceed with the Coffee theme installation.
Coffee is a third party premium OpenCart theme so you have to purchase it from ThemeForest.
Since the complete Coffee installation process is in detail described in the Coffee Documentation, we'll cover the main Coffee installation and configuration steps here.
1. Download the Coffee theme archive
After you've completed the purchase on ThemeForest, you will be assigned a download containing the archive with the Coffee theme files.
2. Extract and upload Coffee theme to your OpenCart store
Inside the archive there multiple folders containing the theme files for different versions of OpenCart.
Make sure to use the folder with the correct version of the theme for your version of OpenCart. In our case, the folder is called v2.3.0.x/Opencart Files_v18.104.22.168/
3. Enable Coffee theme in OpenCart
After Coffee theme is installed, you can enable it for OpenCart to use it in place of the default theme by navigating to Admin > Extensions > Extensions > [Themes] > [Edit] and selecting OPC080182 from the Theme Directory dropdown.
5. Configure layouts and finish the installation
If you want your store to look exactly like the Coffee demo store, you'll need to configure some of the default layouts per Coffee documentation.
For more information on this consult the Coffee theme documentation that is included in your theme archive.
This is what the Coffee theme looks when installed on a clean OpenCart store with a custom category structure and a homepage image slider.
Your Coffee & OpenCart installation is now completed!
Now after you have OpenCart and Coffee installed and configured you can proceed with installing MultiMerch and getting it to work with the Coffee theme.
We do cover the regular MultiMerch installation in our tutorials (see MultiMerch Installation) and we also have a generic theme integration guide available. However, installing MultiMerch with Coffee theme requires a few additional steps, so we'll describe the whole process in this guide.
1. Downloading MultiMerch files
After you've completed your MultiMerch purchase through our website or on OpenCart Marketplace, you will receive a link to download the latest MultiMerch archive.
2. Downloading Coffee compatibility files
If you have purchased a plan that includes a free Coffee theme compatibility, you will also find the multimerch_coffee_opc080182_integration.zip archive inside your package.
In case you don't have the Coffee theme integration files included in your plan, you will need to follow our generic custom theme integration guide to make Coffee theme work with MultiMerch.
3. Extracting and uploading the files
Extract both MultiMerch and Coffee Compatibility archives and upload the files over to your OpenCart setup in the following order.
- Upload MultiMerch files from the upload/ folder inside the MultiMerch archive to your store root
- Upload the contents of the upload/catalog/view/theme/default/ folder to the catalog/view/theme/OPC080182/ folder in your store
- Upload the Coffee Compatibility files from the upload_multimerch8/ folder inside the Coffee Compatibility archive to your store root
4. Modify the pathReplaces.php file
Before you can complete the MultiMerch installation, we'll need to point vQmod to use the right Coffee theme folder instead of the default one for modifications.
To do this, open up the the vqmod/pathReplaces.php file in your favorite text editor and add a new line between // START REPLACES // and // END REPLACES //:
// START REPLACES //
// END REPLACES //
This will make vQmod apply its modifications to the correct MultiMerch files.
5. Install and configure MultiMerch with Coffee theme
Once all the files are uploaded and you have the pathReplaces.php modified, you can log into your OpenCart admin panel and navigate to Admin > MultiMerch > Install.
This will install MultiMerch and direct you to the MultiMerch configuration.
You are now running OpenCart with Coffee theme and MultiMerch!
